It is a lovely sentiment, but I believe the bitcoin economy will come from spending it not holding it. So, the future lies somewhere in between. For example on Thursday, I received my wages in bitcoin via direct deposit conversion at Strike. Then, today I purchased a Safeway grocery gift card on BitRefill which I promptly converted to food for my family. I experienced an increase in buying power of my bitcoin of 1.7% (1% in Satoshi rewards from BitRefill and 0.7% increase in bitcoin/USD value). #bitcoin #⚡️ #justuseit

Bitcoin is proof of work. Work is heat. Purchased a Heatbit space heater. The system mines bitcoin and distributes waste heat to warm a room/home.

Of course, this system is very, very unlikely to ever pay for itself, but I wanted to support product innovation in the useful heat product category.

Updated my payroll to receive income as 80% BTC : 20% USD. Tested BitRefill to purchase a DoorDash gift card with ⚡️. Conversion efficiency and ease of use was beyond my expectation. Spoke to my partner about using gift cards to set monthly budgets for common expenses: Whole Foods, Amazon, and DoorDash. She was surprisingly positive.

I am switching my income to 80% bitcoin /20% fiat this year. Working through how to pay for everyday expenses with BTC/LN⚡️ in California. What sites do you use? So far I’ve come across:
1. purse.io for Amazon purchases with BTC
2. BitPay for buying gift cards (looks a touch like money laundering for scammers to me).
3. BitPay Debit card for fiat purchases from a BTC balance with auto-conversion of BTC to USD
4. CashApp for BTC/LN⚡️to USD manual conversion for debit card purchases.

What else is out there?
